Latvia's 3x3 men's basketball team qualifies for Paris Olympics
HONG KONG, April 14 (LETA) - In the final of the Olympic Qualification Tournament in Hong Kong today, the Latvian 3x3 men's basketball team defeated Austria 19:14 to book itself a place in the Paris Olympics.
Francis Lacis led the way for Latvia with seven points, followed by Nauris Miezis with five points and five rebounds.
Latvia finished the tournament undefeated, beating Mongolia (21:16), New Zealand (21:10) and Egypt (21:12) in the group stage. Latvia then defeated the Netherlands 15:14 in the semifinals.
Already qualified for the Paris Olympics thanks to their world rankings was Serbia, the United States and China, with the final four spots still to be determined in two more qualification tournaments in May.
