Liepaja Deputy Mayor Gunars Ansins (from left), United States Ambassador to Latvia Judith Garber, Liepaja Mayor Uldis Sesks and Latvian Naval Forces Chaplain Viesturs Kalnins participate in a commemoration ceremony in Liepaja (southwestern Latvia) on Tuesday, in honor of U.S. airmen presumed lost when their aircraft was shot down by Soviet fighter planes on April 8, 1950, during an operational mission over the Baltic Sea.
