Parade of NATO allied forces to take place in Valka and Valga in late October

RIGA, Oct 13 (LETA) - A parade of NATO allied forces will take place in the Latvian and Estonian border towns of Valka and Valga at the end of October, Ivo Leitis, a spokesman for the Valka local government, informed LETA.

In an online conference on Wednesday, Valka Mayor Vents Armands Krauklis (Vidzeme Party) met with British Ambassador to Latvia Paul Brummell and representatives of the British Embassy to discuss an idea to organize an informative NATO event in Valka and Valga on October 29.

Leitis indicated that the objective of the event is to highlight the close cooperation between Latvia, Estonia and NATO allies. In these complicated times, it is especially important to keep in mind and appreciate the importance of Latvia's membership in the Alliance.

It is planned that the parade will be joined by the Canada-led NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia and the UK-led NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battle Group Estonia. The event will kick off with the military parade moving from Valga, Estonia, to Valga and ending at the Valka-Valga center where NATO military equipment will be displayed.
