Hesburger to open first fast-food restaurant in Ogre

RIGA, Nov 2 (LETA) - Finnish-Baltic fast food company Hesburger plans to open its first restaurant in the Latvian city of Ogre, the company's international development and marketing director Ieva Salmela told LETA.

She said that in 2015 the company conducted a feasibility study, getting to know several places in Latvia where new Hesburger restaurants could potentially be built. One of them was Ogre, but at that time the final decision about the construction of the new restaurant in this city had not yet been made.

On the other hand, a couple of years ago, due to great customer interest and growing demand, the company decided to construct a restaurant in Ogre.

The new Hesburger restaurant will be located on Riga Street 5, next to the Lidl supermarket and the Neste gas station.

As Salmela revealed, it is planned to open the new restaurant at the end of this year or at the beginning of 2023.

Asked about the investments, the representative of the company did not provide a further comment, adding that the invested funds will be revealed with the opening of the restaurant.

She also pointed out that in general, 15 to 20 new Hesburger restaurants are planned to be opened in Latvia in the next ten years. Currently, 50 Hesburger company restaurants operate in Latvia.

As reported, Hesburger reported EUR 33.1 million in Latvian sales for 2021, which is an increase of 8.5 percent against a year before.

The fast-food chain's sales in all three Baltic states came to EUR 99.7 million last year, with the Latvian market accounting for the largest part of that amount. Compared to 2020, sales in Lithuania grew by slightly less than 14 percent to over EUR 36 million. Sales in Estonia rose 13 percent to over EUR 30.5 million.
